Application Information

How to apply for our free volunteering project:

• Please ensure that you read and understand the following Terms and Conditions.

• Complete the Application form and email it to us.

• Also send us a copy of your CV accompanied by 2 letters of recommendation.
     Please remember to include the contact details, as we need to check your references.

• A 10% deposit is payable on accommodation. On receiving your deposit we will:

* Notify you that we have received your payment and start to process your application;
* Check the validity of your references;
* Conduct a phone interview;
* Confirm your travel dates;

• New intakes of volunteers will be done on the first Monday of every month.

• Orientation will take place on the first day.

• No intakes will be done during December and January.

Duration of volunteering

minimum time of stay - 2 weeks
maximum time of stay - 8 weeks

Transport

Transport to and from airports and bus stops to be arranged by volunteers themselves, otherwise Backpackers Paradise can arrange transport for you on request and for your expense.

Costs

A 10% deposit is payable on accommodation. The full amount is payable on arrival.

(a) Dorm - R140 per person
(b) Room (shared facilities) - R280 per room
(c) Room (en-suite) - R330 per room

The costs mentioned above include...

• Breakfast
• Transport to and from the volunteering centre
• Assistance with booking a wide variety of additional activities & tours from our adventure
  and travel centre
• Note that special rates can be organised for groups greater than 10 people

To determine your costs for the length of your stay, multiply the cost of the accommodation by the number of days you will be staying.

4 week stay in dorm
R140 x 30days
= R4200

Cancellation policy

10% Deposit is non refundable.

Accommodation

Backpackers Paradise is a spacious 4 star graded backpacker hostel where comfort and quality meet. Owner run, this friendly hostel offers divinely wide beds and excellent service from staff.

Thanks to loads of space indoors and out, nothing will cramp your style during your stay. In fact, the relaxed atmosphere is a little addictive, so don’t be surprised if you end up staying longer than planned.

Once you’ve settled in you can check your e-mails in the internet café, grab a beer from the bar (which is situated far away from any sleep areas), have a swim in the pool, make scrumptious meals in the communal kitchen with herbs from the herb garden, relax in front of the television or enjoy the sunset from the balcony. We offer a full breakfast, including a fresh ostrich egg (during season), daily meals of ostrich fillet cooked on the fire South African style and delicious vegetarian meals.

We accept credit cards, cash or rand travelers cheques.

Please note:

• Flights, transport, visas, travel documentation and travel insurance are your responsibility.
• Your personal expenses during your time of stay are not included in the costs mentioned above.
• Volunteers must be able to communicate clearly in English - or at least have a fair   understanding and capability in the language.
